Polymethyl methacrylate or PMMA, also known by the trade names Perspex or Plexiglass, is a thermoplastic material with extraordinary properties that offer major possibilities of transformation. It is a thermo-mouldable polymer with excellent properties.
It is a resistant acrylic, is easy to clean, has good resistance to scratches, is stable and has a high resistance to inclement weather and UV rays for approximately 10 years.
We provide PMMA in sheets, bars or tubes. We also provide PMMA mirrors.
Excellent mechanization and molding capacity. Can be mechanized cold but not bent. Heat has to be applied to bend it. The latter is a complex industrial process which requires molds and specialist machinery.
- Durable.
- Easily manipulable.
- Good resistance to scratches.
- Stable, highly resistant to weather and UV rays.
- The most transparent of all plastics (approximately 93%)
Temperatures
From -40ºC to +100ºC
Light screens, walls, decoration, interior design, construction, signs, framing, display cabinets, various industrial applications, etc.
It is available in a wide range of models and colors (opal white, opaque, glass-effect, smoked, various colors...) although the most common is transparent (approximately 93%). It is the most transparent of all plastics.
- Opal white: Allows light to pass through it, is an intense white and is mainly used for billboards, signs, signposting and decoration.
- Opaque white: Does not allow light to pass through it, and is mainly used for billboards, signs and decoration, for example the furniture industry, or in other decorative elements.
- Glass-effect white: Allows the light to pass through it, it is a white similar to snow and is normally used in fluorescent lighting screens, either at fairs, in lifts, bathroom panels, display furniture, etc.
- Smoked PMMA: A tinted perspex to prevent glare and offer sunlight protection. Its main application is in the nautical industry, for the manufacture of repair of boat windows.
- Colored PMMAs: We distribute perspex in any color and with a thickness of 3mm. Consult other thicknesses.
Perspex bars, both square and round, have the same properties as the sheets. Their excellent transparency give them outstanding optical quality. Resistant to atmospheric agents.
Applications
Window dressing, interior design, illumination, furniture industry, audio-visual industry and various industrial applications.
Perspex tubes have the same properties as the sheets. Their excellent transparency give them outstanding optical quality.
Resistant to atmospheric agents. Colorless and Opal White. Consult for other colors.
Applications
Window dressing, interior design, illumination, furniture industry, audio-visual industry and various industrial applications.
Perspex mirror plates are obtained by metalizing the back of the acrylic sheet. For use as safe mirrors in specific applications where standard mirrors are not suitable. They can be curved cold, are resistant to rupture, are light and easy to handle, protecting the rear of the sheet at all times to prevent damage to the mirror finish.
Applications
Given their unbreakable nature, they are mainly used in prisons, mental health facilities, schools, nursery schools, gaming machines, decoration and other applications.
